College Coach’s Recommendations on Communication
THIS is one of the biggest questions parents have about College Coaches
I volunteer to coach at national college sports camps, combines, showcases, and tournaments all across the country. These events help sharpen your student athletes’ skills, but they also gain exposure to colleges all around the country. I always speak directly with college coaches and asked them what they seek in communication from prospective student-athletes. There are three things: 1) do their research, 2) be intentional with your content, and 3) be genuine.
Doing your research. Make sure you communicate with coaches that will attend those showcases; those combines if you can communicate with the recruiting coach, and the head coach, understand that they are in season and be persistent. Do not be discouraged if you do not get communication back from a coach.
Number two, make sure you are intentional with your content. Add your height, weight, core GPA, sports interests, event, or anything outside of sports that you participate in clubs or volunteer or #education activities, and share that information with that college coach.
Moreover, number three, be genuine part of your research is to match that college and your interests and your anticipated level of play.
So again, college coaches want to see student-athletes, 1) Do your research. 2) Be intentional with your content. 3) And number three, be genuine. Have a great season.
